FormatOtter started with a simple frustration: converting one image shouldn't require uploading it to a stranger's server, waiting in a queue, and dodging fake download buttons.

Modern browsers can decode and encode images natively, so that's what we use. Every FormatOtter tool runs locally on your device — which makes it faster, more private, and free to operate without plastering the site in ads.
