Your files

FormatOtter's tools run entirely in your web browser. When you select an image or PDF, it is read and processed by your own device using browser-native code. Your files are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any server. We cannot see them, and neither can anyone else.

To keep unfinished work through a page refresh, FormatOtter stores queued files in this browser's local IndexedDB storage and tool settings in localStorage. Queued file copies are removed after successful processing or when you select Clear, Remove, or Start over. Browser storage is best-effort and may be unavailable or evicted by your browser.

Analytics

We count browser page views and tool events (file picker opened, file selected, conversion succeeded or failed, download clicked) so we know which tools are used and whether they work. Events contain only the page or tool, input/output format, a coarse file-size bucket (for example "1–5 MB"), timestamp, and a broad traffic-source category such as search or direct. We never store the referring URL. Events are sent to our own domain and stored in aggregate — we never record file names, file contents, IP addresses, device identifiers, or personal information, and there are no third-party analytics scripts on this site.

Cookies

FormatOtter sets no cookies and uses no cross-site tracking.
