How to convert PNG to JPG
- Choose one or more PNG files or drag them into the box above.
- FormatOtter converts it to JPG instantly in your browser.
- Download files individually or download the whole batch as a ZIP.
PNG screenshots and photos are often far larger than they need to be. Converting to JPG can cut the file size dramatically for images that don't need transparency — all processed locally in your browser.
Supported formats
Input: PNG images (.png). Output: JPG (JPEG). Transparent areas are flattened onto a white background.
Batch input can mix PNG, JPG/JPEG, and WebP files. Every selected image is converted to JPG.
Is this private?
Yes. FormatOtter runs entirely in your browser using the built-in canvas API. Your image is never sent to a server or seen by anyone. To preserve an unfinished queue across refreshes, your browser may keep a local copy on this device until processing succeeds or you clear the queue. You can even load this page and then disconnect from the internet; the tool keeps working.

Frequently asked questions
What happens to the transparent parts of my PNG?
JPG doesn't support transparency, so transparent pixels become white in the converted file. If you need transparency, convert to WebP instead.
How much smaller will the JPG be?
For photos and screenshots, JPG is often 5–10× smaller than PNG. For images with large flat-color areas (logos, line art), PNG can actually be smaller — and sharper.
Is JPG worse quality than PNG?
JPG uses lossy compression, so it discards some detail. At the 92% quality setting we use, the difference is rarely visible in photos, but text and sharp edges may show slight artifacts.
